Chiefs Cut Chad Hall, Re-Sign Jerrell Powe

Following a busy day of roster moves on Wednesday, the Kansas City Chiefs cut WR Chad Hall Thursday and replaced him with DT Jerrell Powe.

The two players had been swapped out just a week earlier, when the team needed someone to return punts with Dexter McCluster sidelined by an infection in his ankle. Cutting ties with Hall likely means McCluster, who was a limited participant at practice Wednesday, is ready to be a full go this weekend.

This was already Hall’s third stint with the Chiefs this season and he’s appeared in nine games, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise if his name pops up again in Kansas City, even if it’s not until the offseason.

Powe originally came to the Chiefs as a sixth-round pick of Scott Pioli in 2011 and didn’t make it past Andy Reid’s final cuts. The big man was first re-signed on December 3 before the move last week to get Hall onto the roster. Now that he’s back in Kansas City, Powe will need to keep fighting to get off that roster bubble.
